In Memory
Dixie Virginia Carter (May 25, 1939 – April 10, 2010)

Carter died on April 10, 2010. Publicist Steve Rohr, who represents Carter and her husband, would not state where she died or the cause of death. Carter and Holbrook lived in the Los Angeles area. Carter, who was 70, is survived by her husband, Hal Holbrook, and her daughters Mary Dixie and Ginna, by her first marriage to businessman Arthur Carter. The Dixie Carter Performing Arts and Academic Enrichment Center (informally called "The Dixie") in Huntingdon, Tennessee is named in honor of Carter.
